Facing irrationality doesn’t mean not feeling fear but rather possessing eyes that gaze upon fear and standing against the world. – Jinsei Kataoka, Kazuma Kondou in Deadman Wonderland
No one is immune to fear. Everyone can experience fear whether you are a common civillian, a veteran army, or even a masked superhero chasing a villain in the midnight. It’s just for every person fear comes from different stimulus and with different intensity. As fear is unseparated from man’s life, dealing with fear is a must have skill for us.
In my opinion, fear is a proper sign from our mind to make us more cautious, and prepare our best to cope with difficulty in life. In the absence of fear, I doubt man will unlock their full potential to overcome challenges. Therefore, to some extent, fear is good for motivational reason.
When fear becomes overwhelming, the best way to defeat your fear is by facing it with all the best you’ve got and going through it. That is the ultimate advice for someone who feel pressured by challenges in life and often feel mindblocked by their own fear. I rely on this advice to help me remember that no matter how intense the fear is, it will vanish after I get through it. Just like Richard Branson said, “screw it, let’s do it”.
Acknowledging fear is not a sign of weakness and courage is not the absence of fear. Instead, courage is the ability to deal with fear inside your mind and to tackle challenges in real life. Now, stand strong and show to the world who’s the boss.
